The Shelby Foundation is excited to announce the addition of two new members to our Board of Directors. Marissa Miller, D.D.S., and Joe Wechter have been elected to serve a three-year renewable term effective April 19, 2016.

The Foundation’s board members are responsible for overseeing and approving the distribution of grants and scholarships, guiding the organization when taking a proactive stance with community issues, and advocating the Foundation’s mission of connecting generosity with community need.

“I’m astounded at the level of experience we’re able to access with our board,” said Frank Benham, chairman. “We have a very strong leadership base in place and we couldn’t be more pleased with these appointments. Each of these individuals’ deep professional backgrounds and passionate commitment to our community will bring insightful perspectives to our board.”

Marissa Miller, D.D.S., has lived in six states, in areas ranging from small towns to big cities, but none pulled at her heart like Shelby. “Take it from an outsider, Shelby has wonderful citizens, a warm sense of community, and a lot to offer. I’m proud to be part of this town.” Dr. Miller graduated from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry in 2008 and became a business owner in Shelby six years ago.

She is member of Shelby Rotary, as well as, several local and national dental organizations. In her spare time, she can be seen walking her rescue dogs around town, traveling, or playing the cello.

Joe Wechter is a 43 year veteran of the insurance industry with the past 12 years owning the Mound Agency.  His background includes management positions with both Property/Casualty and Life Insurance Companies. He, and his wife, Lynn, have made Shelby their home for 41 years. He is involved in the community by sitting on the Community Improvement Corporation Board and is a member of the Shelby Ad Club and Shelby Country Club.

Joe cares about small towns surviving and wants to make a difference, especially where people are concerned. “I’ve been a part of this community for a long time and I have seen the impact of The Shelby Foundation. I’m honored to be part of such important organization.”
