The family of Fred Cooke has established a donor-advised fund at The Shelby Foundation in his honor.

Inspired by his belief to show up for others, his wife, Lynn, and their children: Kelly, Allison, and Charlie, have made the decision to keep alive Fred’s penchant for giving his time and treasure by establishing the Fred Cooke Memorial Fund.

The family shared Fred was often the first one on the scene in a crisis and loved being around to celebrate the good times. The Fred Cooke Memorial Fund will continue his legacy to show up for others in different and beautiful ways. The Fund will provide an annual scholarship to a graduating Shelby senior, and it will be responsive and proactive to help the community that was so special to him.

Foundation Director Carrie Kemerer, shared, “The Cooke Family is extremely close, and they are heavily involved in this community. They share a collective desire to help where they are able. There is no doubt, they will do Fred proud and will put this fund to beneficial use.”

The family will award their inaugural scholarship this spring at the Shelby High School awards assembly to a student who is pursing a profession in any field of education, has been active in extracurricular activities, and involved in 4-H, FFA, county fair, and other related fields of interest.
