Frequently Asked Questions: Annual Fall Fundraiser
An Evening with The Shelby Foundation
September 20, 2025
There is quite a buzz about the Foundation’s upcoming fundraiser, but a few questions have been posed. Listed are some of the most frequently asked questions for the September 20th event.
What does this fundraiser benefit?
The proceeds from An Evening with The Shelby Foundation: For a Brighter Tomorrow will provide unrestricted funds that will be used to benefit our community and its residents. Last year, The Shelby Foundation awarded over $300,000 in grants to Shelby area non-for-profits and scholarships to graduating Shelby seniors.
I’m a picky eater, will there be a large food selection?
This year’s event will be catered by a Buehler’s Fresh Foods. Expect a fun selection of pre-dinner nibbles, dinner buffet with two entrees choices (you’ll probably want both) and a dessert bar. Say, what?! Don’t worry about whether or not you’ll like the food, but how you’ll save enough room to eat all the delectable goodies.
Since the event is at the Kehoe Center, do I have to dress up?
Since the event is indoors, guests don’t have to worry about the weather. Feel free to wear whatever makes you feel good and comfortable. Jeans, skirts, suit jackets, and flannels are all acceptable attire.
I’m busy that night. I have to wash my hair, but I heard the silent auction is really neat. Can I still participate?
Using an online platform, supporters, near and far, can participate by bidding on silent auction baskets and raffles. Everyone will have the ability to bid on and support the Foundation from where and how they feel most comfortable, even from your own couch with a towel wrapped around your wet hair.
This sounds expensive. Can I afford it? What do the tickets cost?
It doesn’t cost anything to log on to our online auction. It’s free to look but no doubt you’ll want to do more than just “window shop.” There is a fantastic selection of silent auction baskets, mystery raffles, and, of course, 50/50 raffle tickets. If you’d like to attend (we hope you do), tickets are $75 a piece, or reserve a table for $500 (8 people). Every dollar raised will be invested back into our community, and a portion of the ticket price is tax deductible.
I’m attending this year, should I bring a lot of cash?
Yes, for drinks at the bar. This year, the fundraiser will be cashless since we are again using an online bidding platform, One Cause. When you register for the auction, you’ll be required to enter your credit card information.
I’m NOT tech savvy. Will it be hard to bid?
Absolutely not. The Shelby Foundation again has partnered with One Cause, an online charity platform, and they know how to keep things simple. Whether you are in attendance or are supporting us from afar, you’ll bid using this platform. Auction information and registration instructions can be found on the Foundation website and social media, and, if we have your cell number, we can even text you a link. Easy Peasy!
I want to give to The Shelby Foundation, but I can’t make it to the fundraiser; will you take my money?
Yes.
