On May 11th, Shelby Seniors were rewarded for their academic achievements during the annual recognition assembly. Because of the generosity of donors, $94,000 from 22 scholarship funds housed at The Shelby Foundation was awarded to worthy graduates. While each fund has its own criteria for candidate selection, most are based on academic merit, financial need, community involvement, career choice, and extracurricular activities. Scholarship recipients are determined by selection committees generally comprised of fund representatives and educators.
This year’s scholarships and recipients are:
Eric T. Baird Memorial Scholarship awarded $1,000 to Joshua Yee
Ann Bly Memorial Scholarship awarded $1,000 to Katelin Foster
BOE/Moody Scholarship awarded $7,500 to Claire Korbas, $3,500 each to Allie Gies and Elya John, $2,750 each to Hannah Hendrickson and Lauryn Grass
Lillian Bowman Scholarship awarded $3,000 to Katie Yoak
Class of 1947 Educational Scholarship awarded $3,000 each to Olivia Fisher, Logan McLaughlin, Tori Staton, and Benjamin Wiggins
Leon and Mildred Cline Memorial Scholarship awarded $2,000 each to Gabriel Biettner, and Courtney Townsend
Paul D. Champion Agricultural Scholarship awarded $2,000 each to Seth Wasilewski, and Cassandra Lynch
Arthur B. Cornell Scholarship awarded $1,000 each to Sidney Donahue and Jarin Vaughn
Berniece Griffeth Memorial Scholarship awarded $1,000 to Sidney Donahue
Mark and Virginia Lowmiller Scholarship awarded $1,500 to Elya John
Jackie Metzger Scholarship awarded $500 each to Summer Burrer, Katie Foster, Benjamin Wiggins, Kelsey Stone, and Seth Wasilewski
Charles L. Niese Agricultural Scholarship awarded $1,000 to Seth Wasilewski; and $500 each to Hannah Shepherd and Kourtney VanWagner
Mason Ream Memorial Scholarship awarded $1,000 each to Jordan Green and Anna Dannemiller
Fred and Harriet Rose McKinney Scholarship awarded $500 to Lucas Dailey
Reynolds Family Memorial Scholarship awarded $1,000 each to Alexander Moore and Tyler Green
Derrick Ross Scholarship awarded $1,000 to Joshua Yee
Shelby Educators Scholarship awarded $4,000 to Lucas Dailey
Shelby Home & Public Health Endowment Scholarship awarded $1,000 each to Faith Bailey, Taightam Hicks, and Lucas Dailey
Shelby 4-H Scholarship awarded $1,000 each to Ethan Eidt, Seth Wasilewski and Cassandra Lynch
Harryet F. Snyder Scholarship awarded $1,250 each to Lathen Douglas and Lucas Dailey
Lowell and Marjorie Strauch Agricultural Scholarship awarded $500 each to Hannah Shepherd, Cassidy Thomas, Seth Wasilewski, and Kourtney VanWagner
John and Helen Yetzer Memorial Scholarship awarded $5,000 each to Dalton Boyce, Anna Dannemiller, Jordan Green, and Taightam Hicks
